Tsogang considers the higher education space, particularly the historically privileged universities, as a social experiment in what happens when you take young people from all sorts of backgrounds and put them in the same space. Given the the sky high inequality in SA one of the most stark contrasts is that between the rich and the poor students. In light of this we emphasize, the university experience is more than just a physical experience but a psychological one as well. Although addressing the immediate concerns of poor students such as housing, fees, sustenance is paramount, it is equally as important to consider the salient issues such as the struggle to fit in and develop a sense of belonging in the university community.In the snippet below Shumani Tshifhango shares their experience in assimilating into the university environment as student from an underprivileged background.Link to full video : https://lnkd.in/db-gDE_4
