TFT Tier List: Best TFT Champions for Patch 14.12 (2024)

Welcome to our Teamfight Tactics Tier List for Patch 14.12

Hey everyone, welcome back to our weekly TFT Champion Tier List, where we rank all of the champions in the current patch by strength.

Similar to our LoL tier list, our TFT tier list is curated in collaboration with top-level players, such as Frodan. This list is optimized to help you climb.

For these tiers, we generally use placement stats to determine what champions are performing best this patch. However, since the patch is still fresh, some tiers will also be based on expectations. If a Champion is nerfed heavily, they will be lower on the tier list, and the stats will likely follow.

Overall, the tiers give us a general understanding of what’s doing well this patch, but things can always change as the patch goes on. Players may innovate or optimize, resulting in slight differences toward the end of the patch.

If you want to stay up to date on the best performing champions, check out our Champion Stats Page.

TFT Tier List for Patch 14.12

TFT Tier List: Best TFT Champions for Patch 14.12 (1)

1-Cost Tier List

TierChampions
Optimal (S-tier)Kog’Maw, Ahri, Cho’Gath, Caitlyn, Rek’Sai
Great (A-tier)Kha’Zix, Garen, Sivir, Malphite, Darius
Good (B-tier)Yasuo, Kobuko, Jax

When it comes to 1-cost units, the ranking stats can be somewhat skewed. Champions that stay in end game team comps generally go into vertical traits like Ghostly, Bruiser, Invoker, etc.

Overall, the 1-cost units haven’t moved too much since last patch. We’re seeing some improvements with champions like Cho’Gath, Kha’Zix, and Malphite.

Heavenly comps are getting some more play this patch with the buffs to Kayn and Yone, but they’re not oppressive like in previous patches.

2-Cost Tier List

TierChampions
Optimal (S-tier)Lux, Aatrox, Riven, Neeko, Shen
Great (A-tier)Zyra, Janna, Kindred, Yorick, Senna
Good (B-tier)Teemo, Gnar, Qiyana

The biggest jump this patch is Neeko’s performance. She’s gone from a barely used unit to being one of the top units so far this patch. She sees play in a variety of comps like Heavenly, Mythic, Sage, and more.

The Bruisers like Aatrox and Riven still see good play, and the Ghostly core of Shen + Aatrox is still very solid. Zyra and Senna can both be reroll carrys for Ghostly, making them solid as well.

3-Cost Tier List

TierChampions
Optimal (S-tier)Soraka, Diana, Thresh, Illaoi, Tahm Kench
Great (A-tier)Yone, Zoe, Alune, Amumu, Aphelios
Good (B-tier)Volibear, Tristana, Bard

Of the 3-cost units, there are two major shifts. Units like Tahm Kench and Illaoi have risen up quite a bit, as we’re seeing them flexed into many strong comps. Tahm Kench can be played with Bard, Mythic, and Sage, while Illaoi can flex into 3 traits.

The other shift is the downward trend of the Duelist units, Volibear and Tristana. Duelists were nerfed in 14.12, and their performance hasn’t been great thus far.

It could be that too many people are playing Duelist when they shouldn’t, but these are just observations based on the stats.

4-Cost Tier List

TierChampions
Optimal (S-tier)Annie, Syndra, Sylas, Nautilus, Morgana, Galio
Great (A-tier)Lillia, Kayn, Lee Sin, Ornn, Kai’Sa
Good (B-tier)Ashe

Most of the 4-cost carrys are in a similar rank as last patch, with a few minor changes. Kai’Sa is performing a bit better this patch, but Ashe has dropped down. These two AD carrys are still decent, but nowhere near their peak.

Other units like Annie and Galio have gotten buffs, leading to different comps rising to the top of the meta. Lee Sin has dropped a bit due to Duelist being nerfed, but he still is played in many strong late game comps.

5-Cost Tier List

TierChampions
Optimal (S-tier)Udyr, Lissandra, Xayah, Rakan, Wukong, Azir, Sett, Hwei, Irelia
Great (A-tier)N/A
Good (B-tier)N/A

S-Tier

5-Cost units are difficult to rank because they’re quite context based. In the past, Azir carry level 9 boards were incredibly powerful, Irelia had her time to shine, and now it appears Udyr is the best performer.

The Duelist nerfs definitely hurt Irelia, but she is still a strong late game carry. Lissandra is also a very flexible carry, being flexed into basically any team comp.

Xayah and Rakan are doing quite well so far this patch as well. Azir is still a strong carry as well, but he isn’t dominating. Sett is a niche 5-cost in Umbral team comps, and Hwei is also mainly used in Mythic comps or Bill Gates comps.

TFT Tier List Methodology

Our goal is to deliver the most accurate tier list we can. When data becomes available, we will add that to our decision making as well.

To ensure accuracy, we work with experts with multiple Challenger accounts like Frodan to filter through data and combine it with expert insight.

Stats are never perfect, but they’re an amazing tool for answering questions about the state of the metagame.

Feedback is welcomed to figure out what we missed!

Units are valued in the following ways:

  • S-tier = Super powerful and contested champs that everyone wants and forms comps around.
  • A-tier = Champs that fit very well into powerful comps in the meta.
  • B-tier = Champs that are situational but still fit into good comps.

In the current state of the game, items are a big component of champ strength and champs that work well with them are high value. Right now, we’ll be organizing by unit cost.

While some champions may excel in the early or mid game, champions will generally rank higher if they stay present on a final team comp. This allows you to have flexibility when transitioning to a late game team comp.

Champions that can be reroll carrys also generally rank higher. You can commit to a low-cost unit to reroll, or level up normally and use them as an item holder. This added flexibility gives them a higher rank than other units.

If a unit usually carries and has good items, it is evaluated in that context since items are so integral to the game.

Please remember that TFT is highly situational so ALL units can be used. Explore and help us figure out the things we may have missed!
