Dr.Cugleșan, the D-Skills Jean Monnet Module Leader, participated in the UACES Conference in Belfast between 3 and 6 September. On this occasion, Dr Cugleșan delivered a presentation on the digitalisation of higher education institutions in Romania in the panel Higher Education in Europe. The paper explores the question of the digitalisation of higher education in the area of teaching and learning by examining the digitalisation strategies adopted by Romanian universities. It examines the factors that have contributed to the emergence of such strategic frameworks that can accelerate the digital transformation of educational institutions, making them relevant for today's society. The paper argues that the digitalisation strategies adopted in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic result from top-down pressure, mostly emanating from the EU, as the national governments or universities needed more expertise in the area. The paper makes an empirical contribution by covering the case of Romanian academia, which is scarcely covered in the academic literature.

🚨 *About University of Padua (Padova)*Many people have received rejection emails last year from the University of Padova because they didn't read the instructions on the application website.UNIPD has upped their requirements. For Master's degree, Nigerians need at least a second class upper grade (2-1), CGPA of 3.5 out of 5 to get admission offer coupled with meeting with other requirementsSo I guess if you've been rejected from the first assessment stage, you most likely didn't meet the CGPA requirements. University of Zurich (UZH) has refused to participate in Times Higher Education's world rankings. According to the statement released by the university, Zurich will no longer provide data for THE because the ranking systems fail to reflect the broad range of teaching and research activities carried out by universities (1)- UZH is not the first university that take this decision.Because ratings are mainly focused on measurable results. As a result, for example, leading universities try to increase the number of publications instead of improving the quality of the content of articles.The benefits and impact of rankings on the academic world have long been a matter of contentious debate.What do you think?Does a university in the Top 100 really provide a better quality education than a university in the 101st place?Share your opinion.
